Artful Times Ch 48 TH Style

Yawnnnnnnnnnnnn Stretchhhhhhhh
deep breathes
AND
yes I am out of hibernation :)
I simply can't believe that I haven't blogged since just before Christmas
Bad Bad Girl :(

In my defense I have been busy making bears I will photo them soon and share with you soon.

I must say it was so lovely to take part in the Artful Times challenge
the lovely ladies are asking for Tim Holtz style Tags, Cards or ATC
so I  got really messy with a tag and it felt good. :)

The tag has been painted black
stamped and clear embossed swirls
painted over with storm cloud and rubbed back to reveal the swirls (love this TH technique)
I stamped with a TH diamond stamp
made a grunge flower and die cut a TH swirl
also die cut the bird and cage (although not TH dies)
added a few embellies.

A great shabby TH look I think.

I guess I should wish you all a very Happy New Year (embarrassed look) as its nearly spring
and I do hope you have not been unduly affected by flood and gale.

See you soon

and thank you stopping by and commenting its always appreciated

Hello hope you have had a good week, I really enjoyed the forms of transport projects you shared with us. This week we are asking for your project to be influenced by a song with flowers in and there is loads to choose from. For me it had to be "Paper Roses" by Marie Osmond yes I know but I was and am still an Osmond fan well I was a teen in the 70s and did a lot of swooning over Donny LOL. I have used a small tag which has been stamped with music and DI. The roses are indeed paper which has been rolled. Looking forward to finding out your favourite flower songs. Hope you find time to join us.  Make sure you visit Janet, Tracy and Chrissie to see their wonderful projects. Thank you for visiting my blog and your lovely comments. Hugs Sandra X

Circus Sideshows Ch 56

Wow you really did some wonderful altered pegs and paperclips thank you for joining us. This week we are going to the circus so anything to do with the circus please. I must confess I am no circus fan, ever since I was a wee girl it always made me cry but not with joy LOL much to Mums despair. But I did enjoy circus sideshows especially the helter skelter. I have made a tag and DI the back ground and gave it a metallic rub also back stamped using Andy Skinner sideshow stamps and a text. The bunting is die cut and the helter skelter has been stamped then cut out so I could raise it up a bit. Really looking forward to seeing your projects this week.  Don't forget Carol is offering a prize this month. Make sure you visit Janet and Chrissie and Carol to see their wonderful projects. Nature

Thank you to all who joined our Hatters Christmas and shared your lovely projects. Hopefully some good Christmas ideas have been swapped.
This week we are celebrating Nature it is a perfect time of year for it, everything turning such gorgeous colours, although my tag is more like Spring LOL well it must be spring in Australia.
I have DI inked the tag with worn lipstick, antique linen and tea dye, then stamped with text. The flower blossom is from an old book page and was already torn so I used it and inked the edges. The note edged green card is a punch I have from Stampin up. To decorate I have used tea stained lace, buttons. A piece of muslin stained with worn lipstick and ruffled into a flower fixed with a button, and a little chipboard butterfly painted gold. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave me lovely comments. Do be sure and check out Florence, Janet and Chrissie lovely projects. Take care and thanks for joining us.

Then layered over with black sparkle netting and then calico more hand stitching in purple. The image printed onto acetate then glued to the calico. My young witch ready to Trick or Treating. Recycle Packaging

Wow you all have some lovely techniques and projects to share with us. A BIG thank you. This week for the thrifty crafter we ask you to sort out your bits of packaging be it cardboard or tins anything really. We all keep some I am sure, I know I do. We are asking you to make a project out of this stuff. I made a tag out of an old amazon box. I tore of the cover to reveal the corrugated and rubbed some metallic gold over it, I made a vase from the rest of the package and stamped text on the backing bits. The heart and flowers and leaves are made out of a beer can and coloured with alcohol inks. The heart is covered in stickles. I have attached pieces of old wire to the flowers to enable them to lift up. Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comments. Please do look at Florence, Janet and Chrissie to see their lovely projects. Coming soon - get ready for the Out of A Hat Christmas celebrations in October :) Hugs Sandra XXX

Out of A Hat Challenge 23

A very few did take part and made wonderful altered Mousetraps for the challenge last week so Thank You Ladies for joining us. It was a very different challenge but great fun, maybe if you ever have a spare Mousetrap you will have a go.
This week we are looking at Favourite techniques or products now come on we all have those don't we :) I found this really hard as I love so many techniques and use all types of products. However I have always loved the resist stamping technique but confess not to have used it lately. The technique is described beautifully on Sam's Technique Zone blog. There is a raft of techniques on this blog so well worth a visit. It is where I learnt about it. Very quickly, I used glossy card and stamped the swirl with clear ink, once dry I rolled ink with a brayer and then gently rubbed with a damp cloth to reveal the resist stamping. You can see this below. I must admit a couple hit the bin LOL. I then stamped butterflies in black ink to finish. Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comments. Please do look at Florence, Janet and Chrissie to see their lovely projects. Hugs Sandra XXX
PS Thanks to Sam for her brilliant Technique Zone

Twinchies

It is always nice to have folks join us and I thought the entries last week were lovely entries thanks for joining the hatters.
I do hope you will join us again and don't forget Janet has a fab prize for July.
This week it is twinchies, I have made a nature inspired tag which has been painted, inked and background stamped and given a gesso wash. I added bits of corrugated card rubbed with gold leaf and pieces of text paper. The twinchie squares (for those of you not familiar with the term, a twinchie is 2x2) again these are inked and have had a guesso wash, background stamped in grey and then stamped in black with a variety of nature stamps, finished off with a few punched out butterflies and a flower. I have to admit I struggled this week my mojo went on vacation I think or had drowned in a puddle LOL. Do make sure you visit Florence, Janet and Chrissie have a lovely weekend even if we get yet more rain and thanks for stopping by. Hugs Sandra XXX

Artful Times Challenge - Seaside

"Oh I do like to be beside the seaside" - This is the challenge set by Von over at The Artful Times for the next two weeks. The DT projects are really fab do take a look.
I chose to do a tag for this, now being short of seaside materials I really had to rummage my stash. Luckily I found a CI beach  picture and some papers entitled "By the Crystal Sea" the papers have music notes and a Ferris wheel ride impression, good seaside stuff. I distress inked the papers with blues, pinks and tea dye. Back stamped with a swirl and sequin waste. Added Ric rac (I thought it looked like waves) scrim and lace, tando bunting inked up and of course those crystals.
Thanks for stopping by and those much appreciated comments.

So go and have a good old rummage and join us. The stamp I used you will see in loads of my work so I guess it is my fav. It is a gorgeous floral swirl from Clarity they come already mounted on perspex. It is a great stamp for background and the main focus. I used a tag, painted it in crafty notions colourful thoughts peacock blue (I love this paint it is so vibrant) I did a bit of background work by stamping text and splodging gold ink through sequin waste. The floral image has been stamped in black and clear embossed. Added lace and flowers for effect. Do stop by and see what Florence Chrissie and Janet have chosen for their favourite stamp.  Looking forward to seeing what you make. Hugs Sandra XXX

Artful Times Challenge 1

A new challenge blog has sprung into action called  "Artful Times"  run by the lovely Von, Neet and Sam. Good Luck Ladies :) the blog looks great. The first challenge is make a tag.
As it is spring and we have had some lovely weather and all the blossom is out (I just love it) I felt all flowery. Tag cut out of a lovely piece of paper inked over to tone down, decorated with vintage lace a flower made out of a pinwheel and small Rosette mixed with a bought flower and leaves. The butterfly is chipboard embossed, I stamped the words. Clean and simple unusual for me.
Also a quick plug for another new blog where you can take part in a challenge Out of a Hat Creations. There will be something for everyone so do check it out if you have time.
Thanks for looking and hugs all. X
