Make a Card at Fashionable Stamping CH 59

Hello dear crafters in blogland hope all is well with you :)
the lovely ladies over at Fashionable Stamping have set a new challenge
and we are asked to make a card. Now I don't do cards very often
but having looked at the inspirational cards from the DT I felt like having a go.

I have torn and lightly sanded some brown coordination card
and did faux stitches round the edge
torn a smaller piece of paper and stamped it with text and a swirl in sepia
then machine stitched onto the brown card
the words have been stamped onto tissue paper then stuck on
the decorative tag has had the edges dipped into gold embossing powder and heated
stamped with a floral swirl and hi-lighted with white pen
I have finished off with wrapping black twine
and adding flowers, text butterflies and a heart.
I shall use it as a just note card :)

Thank you for stopping by my blog and for taking time to comment
it is very much appreciated and I do try to visit you back and enjoy looking at your work.

Enjoy your crafting

Hugs Sandra XXX

PS I just saw that I have won on the random generator on the Fashionable Challenge blog :)  for the masks and stencils challenge. How lovely. Thank you ladies.

I recently attended a workshop at my local quilting store
The workshop was run by a very talented mixed media artist Alexander Waylett
We worked with burnishing copper and gold leaf onto cotton velvet
I made this piece It should look better when I frame it, I hope LOL
but I really did enjoy the day.

Thanks for looking

Distressed Feminine Beauty

Blimey 2 posts on a wet soggy Sunday morning :) but it is a good day to craft :)

Over at Artful Times they are asking for a bit of Distressed
and at Vintage Stamping Challenge they want Feminine Beauty
two fabulous challenges and right up my street
Do drop by both blogs and check out the marvellous DT work

For this make I really wanted to do a chunky canvas but I did not have one so I have used a box lid and dare I say it:
it worked out ok I think.

The box lid has been covered in scrunched up tissue paper
and I applied a lot of modge podge
then painted in vintage white and sky blue
stamped and embossed a gold swirl
stamped music, added bits of book page
well and truly metallic rubbed (I love these)
added
a die cut swirl and a body form which are painted blue
I made all the flowers
and found a lovely pre cut lady to finish

Thank you for visiting me and taking time to comment
Have a lovely Sunday

Hello everyone I must say you were all so innovative last week with "Circus theme" I agree it is hard unless you have the stamps but you really did pull out all the stops. Thank you for the support. This week it might be a but easy maybe you could go all romantic as we are asking for "hearts and swirls" a favourite of mine. The frame is painted with sky blue and toned down with metallic rubs. the background is covered with paper and swirls stamped and some have been heat embossed. Then I made bits and bobs to decorate. I loved making this :). Oh and I have painted the stand and used a resist clear emboss technique to decorate with a swirl.   Don't forget Carol is offering a prize this month. MEN - Artful Times

The Artful times DT have set the difficult theme of "Men" well lets face men are always difficult LOL. Now I am meant to be packing for a few days away where I will be soaking in a hot tub all week but I sneaked off to make this for the challenge, the Diamond is watching sport so I guess I am fine for a little while :) hee hee. I love using old packaging particularly corrugated type and I was inspired to re-visit this love after I viewed Craft attack Valerie blog well Worth a visit.
So I tore it up painted it, rubbed it with DI, used gold leafing and alcohol inks to get that distressed look. Layered it up with black sequin waste a tag I made out of black paper also painted and gold leafed. Added old book pages a stamped image of an engine onto handmade paper (it has a brownish fleck running through it looks really old and I think the image would have looked better if I had cut out the circle ho hum) Finished off with brads and old watch bits also some gear things which have all been rusted with alcohol inks. Thanks so much for looking and I really appreciate the kind comments. Hugs All Sandra XXX

The Artful Times Ribbon & Lace

Challenge 5 over at The Artful Times is Ribbon and Lace, fantastic theme ladies (3 cheers) I just love lace, fabric, ribbon that's why my sewing cupboard is bulging LOL, trouble is I hate to use it up I just like looking at it LOL. Well I had this frame painted for a while now with sky blue and crackled using stormy sky, never really new what to do next with it but the theme gave me inspiration. I used graphics 45 paper for the back drop and a piece of double sided blue / pink which I rolled back to reveal the activity in the shop. I stamped around the frame with sewing theme stamps and added metal scissors and a corner piece. the lace flowers are stained with antique linen and weathered wood DI the fan is ribbon and again stained I used a piece of jute with buttons on top. The shop sign has a blue ribbon rose. The heart well its because I just love the theme. Thanks for looking and for the lovely comments that are  left I really appreciate them.

Out of the Hat Creations Lace Challenge

Where do the weeks go we have now reached challenge 8 on Out of the Hat Creations and this week it is a fab theme. Well I would say that I just adore lace and have quite a bit of the stuff hee hee. My piece is a decorated beer mat really just used as the base.  I inked gold around the edge of the beer mat and stamped it with text. I painted the back ground cream and stamped with a floral swirl then on to scrim layered the cut out image this was framed with cotton  lace, layered on top of this is vintage lace and a small vintage lace flower has the button on top. The sentiment is dedicated to my Son and daughter in law they have had a long few months of seperation due to son in the forces serving abroad.
Do take a visit to Janet, Chrissie and Florence to see what they have come up with. And it would be lovely if you can find the time to join us. Hugs Sandra XXX

GC 141 Granny's Photo Album

The Gingersnaps chestnut theme challenge this month is "Granny's Photo Album (do take a look at the DT and other participant entries they really are fab). I really love vintage style so couldn't resist making a tag for the challenge. I have coloured the tag with DI antique linen and worn lipstick it's given a nice pinkish faded tinge, the edges are rubbed with inka gold. I stamped with text and a CI flower swirl. I used a small piece of corrugated again rubbed with inka gold and the DIs and attached the cut out image. The circles are sprayed with cosmic shimmer copper (they are cut out of a colour catcher sheet) and the flowers mounted onto them. The lace is from my vintage collection and really gives the vintage feel.
Thanks for looking. Hugs Sandra XOXO

Added a little bird which I had stamped, cut out and covered in glossy accent. I then added a metal heart and hand stitched around the edge in blue.
